Hello, my name is Kathy Rasco. I am the district teacher/coordinator for students who are enrolled here in the ever-growing field of English as a Second Language. My home school is Neville but I serve several other schools in our system... I entered this area of education almost blindly--I was looking for a new opportunity to "expand my horizons"---and did I choose the right job!!!! I have taken several courses to gain
certification, and through these, have learned much, much needed information. However, nothing has taught me as well as actually working with my students. My students come from many, many counties: China, Viet Nam, Egypt, Pakistan, France, Brazil, Yemen, Mexico, and Germany, to name just a few. Together we are constantly not only learning a new language, but an appreciation for all cultures and beliefs.
We also have greatly increased our numbers in the area of foreign exchange students! I could talk about this forever, so if any of you are interested in hosting a boy or girl, please contact me.
Now a bit about the other part of my life here at Neville...I am the girls and boys head (and only) cross country coach, one of the coaches for girls and boys soccer, as well as girls and boys track and field. Thank goodness I love to be outside! I am the sponsor for the Neville Key Club, a service organization affiliated with the interanational Kiwanis club. Lastly, I am in charge of the homecoming court and ceremony in the fall and the Junior-Senior Prom in the spring.
