Hello ! Welcome to the Gifted Page!  I hope this site will answer questions about our Gifted Class and Testing for the Gifted Program. Our program is full of excitement and adventure that establishes a love for learning!

 

Gifted Classes are served on one day per week. The following is our 2013 schedule:

 

Monday:  First Grade

Tuesday: Second Grade

Wednesday: Fourth Grade

Thursday: Third

Friday: Fifth Grade

 

The course of study in Gifted includes the following subjects:

 

Junior Great Books:  A reading program for grades 1-5 that consists of ten story units

Math Rules:  A brain bending problem solving activity for grades 1-5

Logic: : Three parts to this activity, The introduction( paragraph that sets the background info. ) The clues(provides logical thiking to link the onformation given to make deductions that lead to the solution) The grid(provides sorting of information)

Roots Up: Greek and Latin rootwords/meanings( for vocabulary enhancement)

Centers: Fun explorotory activities/brain boosting games

Unit: Excelerated learning and expanding knowledge with a focus topic and simulation

 

 

Grading : Rubric style (Exceeds, Meets, Does Not Meet) One grade is given for Gifted Resource Class on report card and progress report for each grading period.....Six areas of study are assessed by

rubric style grading. 

Example: Junior Great Books: Student demonstrates an understanding of vocabulary and basic story elements above the expectations of the gifted curriculum ...Exceeds (E)

Student demonstrates an understanding of vocabulary and basic story elements....Meets (S) 

Student does not demonstrate an understanding of vocabulary and basic story elements...Does Not Meet....U

 

Hands on Projects are completed in the classroom and are always fun and challenging

 

Testing:

 

The testing process takes time.   Please be patient.  If you have questions, please call me!  I am here for you!  If a child does not feel well, I will wait to test on another day.  I want ALL students to feel their best when they are tested.:)

 

 

 K-1-2 Testing

 

Testing is almost complete...I am marking/norming tests for K-1-2....This will take until the end of the school year.  I will notify families asap of results.  The creativity test will be given the last week of school if needed.  Please feel free to contact me!

5/20/13- Working to get tests normed/graded...Parents will be notified ASAP/

Students will be placed by the 2013-2014 school year
