Welcome to second grade! With home and school working together, students will have a challenging year , a productive year and a fun year.
Because communication is the key to a student having a good year, I will do my best to keep you informed of your child’s progress and about classroom activities. Please do the same for me. If a special or unusual event happens at home that might affect your child at school, please let me know.
Homework is assigned Monday - Thursday. In addition to the assigned written homework, each child has spelling words to study and 20 minutes of reading. (Don't forget to send the pink reading slip back on Friday). Homework is due at the beginning of school the next day. Late work will be checked, but credit is only given for work that is handed in on time. If an occasional special family event causes a delay in turning in homework, Parents, please let me know. With a note from a parent, we can make arrangements for the homework to be returned at a different time.
Each Friday, a weekly progress report will be sent home with your student. Please sign it and return it to school with your child on Monday morning. The report will give you an indication of your child’s behavior at school and how well assignments are being completed. If you wish to discuss your child’s progress, I will be very happy to schedule a conference. The school telephone number is 543-3663, or you can send a note. I will do my best to respond as soon as possible.
As the year goes on, you will be hearing from me often. Please let me hear from you, as well. Nobody knows your child better than you do, and it is only by working together that we can make this a productive year.
