I am very excited about what this year holds for me and my class.  We are off to a great start and getting settled into our routine.  I am looking forward to the second nine weeks and learning to sound out more letters and blending them to read words.  Our sight word list is growing.  We will be playing "Beat the stopwatch", Tic-tac-toe, musical plates, and other games to review them.   We have also been practicing whispering.  Workstations is a time when the students work more independently while I meet with reading groups and it is very important that they whisper when they need to talk to a friend.
