“Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy.”

Things to have for EVERY class include:

    * Instrument
    * Music

    * Method Book
    * Pencil
    * Extra Reeds
    * Valve/Key Oil or Slide Grease

Students receive a daily grade for having all of the above materials every day as part of being responsible.  Students also receive a daily grade for successfully participating in each class period, which is best done by listening to all instructions, playing when asked to play, and following all Band Room Rules.  Remember:  Respect, Responsibility, and Rehearsal

Every member of the band, from grades 5 through 12, is expected to always perform to the best of their ability.  Make sure that every time you play your instrument, you're making the best sound possible, whether it's in the band room or at home.  Always play with good fundamentals: hold and use your instrument correctly, give your music full concentration, have great posture, a firm embouchure, and most importantly, always play with GREAT air.  The band is expected to play with exceptional tone quality, articulation, intonation, and balance, so you should always try to work on these things individually.  If you do this, and make yourself aware of those playing around you by listening, you'll be successful as a musician.  Band is the ultimate team sport, so it's important that you're doing your job so that everyone else around you can do theirs.  Remember: Teamwork makes the Dream work!
