What are we up to now?

Fitness Testing and Goal Setting

In P.E. class we are completing our fall fitness tests for the year and setting personal goals. We review and practice the skills that will help reach our health and fitness goals developing a healthy body, and mind.

In Physical Education, students participate in a variety of funtional fitness. sport and swimming activities each class throughout the year. The skills they learn are developed throughout the school year and transfere into their personal life outside of school. Sport specific skills like throwing, catching, kicking, other manipulative and locomotive skills are incorporated into each lesson with games and activities that will enhance their learning throughout the year. This allows students to develop these skills improving confidence as they go. If they have difficulty learning the skill the first time, they will be exposed to it again the next time it is presented during the year. Their grade each marking period will be based on their attendance, level of class participation, along with special projects and tests. If a student is not participating in class, a doctor or parent note will be required for them to be excused. I look forward to having a great year.

World-Class Fitness in 100 Words

"Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: deadlift, clean, squat, presses, clean and jerk, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climbs, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports."

Greg Glassman

Students will need sneakers, and clothing comfortable for exercising to participate in Physical Education class.

Students in swim class will need to bring a swimsuit, goggles, towel, and a bag to carry their gear to and from class.
