Welcome to Second Grade
What a joy it is to teach Second graders.  Second graders are wide-eyed learners with a willingness to take risks and a ready sense of humor. As learners they are beginning to focus so that information becomes more than just facts to know; it begins to be an application tool. Reading and writing become more than skills; they begin to be windows into knowledge. In math, they are able to move from concrete manipulatives to symbolic reasoning.  Second grade is a year of growth, and a year of learning independence. What is it like to be in the Second grade?  As Second grade teachers, we have the fun of expanding their horizons and capitalizing on their eagerness to learn.  The children have the fun of exploring, expanding, and extending their skills and abilities. In other words, Second grade is FUN! We are excited to be working with your children.  Second grade will be an awesome year!
