My name is Myrna Maldonado and this is my second year working at Grace. I was born and raised in Tamaulipas, Mexico. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas. I also started taking coursework towards Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages with an English specialty at the Normal Superior in Mexico. I got to finish my teaching studies here by obtaining my Texas teacher certification as a Bilingual (English-Spanish) teacher from Region IV in partnership with the University of St. Thomas. I taught Spanish and English as Second Language classes in public schools in Houston for nine years before coming to Grace.
I have been married for 12 years. We have 2 daughters, Karen and Maya. Our family is so blessed to lead the Grace en Español ministry here at Grace.

I want all my students to enjoy Spanish classes! I believe learning a new language is important and exciting. We don't know where God will lead our kids, and the endless ways they can serve God by knowing a second language.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

I am looking forward to a successful 2011-2012 year. Gracias!

Language and communication are at the

heart of the human experience. The

United States must educate students who

are linguistically and culturally equipped

to communicate successfully in a pluralistic

American society and abroad. This

imperative envisions a future in which

ALL students will develop and maintain

proficiency in English and at least one

other language, modern or classical.
