Density =  mass

                  volume

Density is a measurement of how much stuff is in a specific space.

Everything is made up of tiny particles ~ called atoms.   Those particles are attracted to each other.

The state of matter of an object depends on how much energy the particles have.

In a solid ~ the particles seem to be bound tightly ~ they can only vibrate.

In a liquid ~ the particles do not have such a tight bond, they can slide pass each other.

In a gas ~ the particles are on their own, flying around, colliding, and ricocheting off each other.
