Below you will find information for the RFH Jazz Band including audition requirements, rehearsal and performance schedule, as well as other helpful jazz related recourses. The audition requirements are listed by INSTRUMENT so please make sure you download the correct scale sheet and etude for your instrument. The audition requirements are the same as the All Shore and All Region audition requirements so if you are interested in auditioning for these select ensembles, please refer to the links below and speak with Mr. Grillo.

AUDITON REQUIREMENTS
The jazz band is an ensemble in which students MUST audition to participate. These auditions are to ensure that the student is placed in the appropriate group with students of similiar abilities. Please read and prepare the requirements to the best of your ability so that you can feel confident going into the audition room.
AUDITION PROCESS:
Students will enter the audition room and play the scales as written on the scale sheet. Mr. Grillo will then prompt each performer to improvise using the notes in each scale with a rhythm section. Each student will be assessed on their TONE QUALITY, ABILITY TO IMPROVISE WITH A RHYTHM SECTION, and SIGHT READING capabilities.
