Understanding Medical Language is a dual enrollment course in which students earn State College of Florida credit. In addition students earn plus one for quality points based on the 4.0 scale. The students will earn two credits upon completion of the course.
In order for students to be eligible for this course they must meet one of the score criteria, maintain a 3.0 grade point average, complete the SCF application for early college resulting in being assigned a G00 number.

If a student previously qualified AND was enrolled in dual enrollment courses they are eligible to enroll in dual enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year and disregard above criteria.
The Understanding Medical Language course will provide students with a foundation on how to recognize and combine roots, prefixes and suffixes to be utilized in the medical profession such as a Physician or Physical Therapist. In addition this course is suitable for students interested in medical related fields: Insurance Coding, Medical Billing, Attorney, and support staff.
We also have volunteer guest lecturer engagements. Local sponsors provide light refreshments to all participants.
