Welcome to the Art Room!

Thanks for stopping by the Art Room's web page!  I'm so happy to be here at Walter T. Bergen, teaching your children all about art making, art history and the cultural significance the arts play in society!

Students at WTB will be exposed to both 2-D mediums such as pencil, marker, charcoal, watercolor, tempera and acrylic paints as well as 3-D mediums such as air-dry clay, paper mache and plaster of paris.  They will become familiar with the elements of art and principles of design that are integral to understanding, creating and talking about artwork!  Students will see and discuss the artwork of "master" artists throughout history and understand the impact that these artists have had on the development of their art forms and movements.

It is my sincere hope to ignite the spark of creativity in the students at WTB and show them the importance of and excitement that comes from creating something from nothing but their own imaginations!

Please come back and visit!  I will do my best to update the website during the year.  Be sure to visit your child's class page for details on the projects they will be working on as well as photos of finished/in-progress works!  Also be sure to look at the Artsonia page.  Artsonia is an on-line database which allows each student to create an on-line portfolio of their artwork, and is a WONDERFUL resource for our school.

I look forward to an exciting and artful year with all students at WTB!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Jennifer Saltzman
