It is finally time for the second big essay of the school year,the Expository Essay.  There are several handouts that you will be given to assist you in completing this assignment.  If you miss a class or lose one handout, remember that the current week's work are on the file shelves at the left side of the room as you enter as well as any of the handouts from day one of school that are in the blue box next to the shelves. 

Date to remember - The due date for this essay is December 14, 2011.  If you will be gone, sick or otherwise, it is YOUR responsibility to get this work in on time!

Remember: 1.  The word "Explain" in the prompt = an expository essay.
                    The thesis statement is the LAST sentence in the first 
                    paragraph and is made up of:
                    A. words from the prompt,
                    B. your topic, and 
                    C. the details that will be the topics of your body 
                    paragraphs.
 
                    2.  Always take time to plan your work with:
                    A. the prompt, 
                    B. a Happy Alien,  
                    C. your working Thesis statement.
                    This will help you stay on topic.

If you need help you can schedule an appointment with me before school, during lunch, and/or after school.  Do not just show up or wait until the last minute for help.  These times are times that I use for planning and other work, so I need to arrange my schedule to be of help.
