Syllabus: The students will be using the Holt McDougal 7th grade math textbooks as their primary guide for learning and practice.  I will often assign work outside of the McDougal texts.

If a student misses work, it will be available for them in the back of the class in hanging folders.

We will cover the chapters of the textbook in this order:

Chapter 2: Integers and Rational Numbers (Operations on positive and negative integers)

Chapter 3: Applying Rational Numbers (Decimals and fractions)

Chapter 1: Algebraic Reasoning (An introduction to algebra)

Chapter 4: Proportional Relationships (Ratios and proportions)

Chapter 6: Percents (Decimals, fractions, percents, and percent of change)

Chapter 8: Geometric Figures (Lines and angles, polygons, congruence)

Chapter 9: Measurement and Geometry (Measure: perimeter, area, circumference, volume,  surface area)

Chapter 10: Probability (Samples spaces, predictions, combinations, permutations)

Chapter 5: Graphs (Plane coordinates, graphs, rate of change, direct variation)

Chapter 11: Multi-Step Equations and Inequalities (Algebra and inequalities, graphing solution sets)

The hope is that we can get through these chapters before the NJ ASK test this Spring.  That being said, I will only go as fast as the students can handle. We will work as quickly and diligently as possible, but I do not aim to move on before a topic is mastered.
