Welcome to CISD Science.

Leonardo Da VinciLeonardo Da Vinci.  For centuries he has been known as a master painter and sculptor, but, did you know that he was also one of the most brilliant inventors and scientists the world has ever known?  His imagination seemed endless, developing models of flight and war machines never before seen.  We are still working to develop his technological models today. Early Plane

Da Vinci was not the only brilliant visionary to conceive of technologies before his time. Did you know that the communications satellite was invented by science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke?  Many of our modern gadgets such as the cell phone are the products of the vivid imaginations of fiction writers long, long ago.  Jules Verne, Isaac Asimov, Mary Shelley, Philip K. Dick, and George Lucas are just a few of the many science fiction writers who inspired generations of young scientists to go out and create wonderful things.

Throughout this year we will be learning the physical and chemical laws that govern the behavior of objects from the massive to the microscopic.  We'll take a look at the areas where we have no laws or answers and think about what mankind can do to come up with the answers.  That means we will need to train our brains to be creative....to use that greatest of all gifts, imagination.

In the words of the immortal Albert Enstein, "Imagination is more important than knowledge."
