TO: Safety Patrols and parents / guardians
FROM: Mrs. Lauger, Safety Patrol Sponsor – Archer Elementary
Today I am sending home a sheet showing your patrol’s current balance for the Washington, DC trip. If your patrol has not participated in any fundraising, you are simply receiving this reminder. The $100 deposit for the Washington, DC trip is due to me no later than 3pm on January 8, 2010. This deposit must be in form of a money order made out to Educational Tours. This deposit will reserve a spot for your patrol on the trip. If you want to be a chaperone on the trip, you must also send in a $100 deposit for yourself. This also must be in the form of a money order made out to Educational Tours. I have already received deposits from two patrols and one adult. I will be checking my school email over the holidays if you need to ask questions – Laugerlm@gm.sbac.edu.

Subject: Fundraising for Washington, DC trip
I want to remind parents that fundraising is actually the responsibility of the committee / parents. Where I do send home things from school, make schedules, plan the trip, supervise patrols at school – I was very clear that I would assist you, but not take the lead.
As of this memo I have received no items or promise of any items for the drawing that is suppose to begin December 7th. I also have heard from only two parents (just yesterday) in regard to the Plant Sale that is suppose to take place on December 5th.
Yesterday I was on the phone with Chris Jackson who agreed to provide plants for this sale. He feels that at this point and time we should probably change our focus. I agreed with him and am offering a pre-order Poinsettia sale. The Poinsettias are in 8” pots and Chris purchases them for approximately $6.50 – we would sell them for $12. Each sale would result in a profit of $5.50. The timeline for the sale would be December 2 – 11, with deliver / pick-up December 17th. If you choose to participate in this pre-sale of Poinsettias please complete the bottom of the page and return to school ASAP. All sales will be cash only.
Perhaps the best thing to do is focus on the Poinsettia sale, and then begin fresh after the holidays. I believe that patrols would make a huge profit if we could get together things for a drawing mid January or later. I would also like to see about a Valentine’s Dance, another Krispy Kreme sale and perhaps a March plant sale.
