Elementary Special Education
I am in my 23rd year of teaching. I have taught a variety of grade levels and subjects such as Technology, Math, PE, Special Ed, and Language Arts. I try to create a place where students can be creative and realize their potential. I love working with kids and have a passion to help them every way I can.
Here is a little bit about me and my family:
I am the mom to 3 boys. My oldest son is a graduate of UMHB and is the Director of Marketing for Abrigo Software in Austin. My daughter-in-law is also a graduate of UMHB and works as an IT executive developing software programs. My middle son is a graduate from UNT and is a network analyst for JJ PIckle Applied Research Facility at University of Texas and recently got married. My youngest son is a graduate of Central Texas A&M and is working in Waco. His lovely wife and my second daughter-in-law is a graduate from UMHB and is attending Grad School at Truitt School through Baylor University. I have been married for 32 years!! My husband works for the US Postal Service. We live on a farm and have three dogs, a cat, numerous cows, and a vast array of wild critters.
Some things you might want to know about me:
I am certified in General Education (PK-4, 4-8), ESL (K-12), Special Education (K-12), and ELAR (4-8). I studied piano for 10 years and placed 3rd in state once. When I was 15 years old, I became a lifeguard. I graduated from high school in 3 years. I interned for 2 years in Juvenile Probation in college. I have written 2 childrens books and am working on a third.
I graduated from UMHB with a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science (as of today, there have been 22 family members between my husband's family and mine that have attended and/or graduated from UMHB. My Grandmother was the first. She graduated in 1925.
My Granddaddy was a teacher, principal, and superintendent as well as having degrees in Pre-Med and and Pre-Law. My Grandmother was a Spanish teacher. My mom was a teacher for over 40 years. She taught a variety of subjects and grade levels. So I guess you could say teaching was in my system.
