Conoce al Señor Taveras
My name is Luis Taveras and I have been working with the Hillside Public Schools district as a Spanish teacher for six years. I was born in the Dominican Republic and have resided in Paterson, NJ since the age of 7. I consider myself to be a very hard working individual. I have a BA in Communication/Spanish from Rutgers University and plan on continuing my education in the future. I believe that all children can learn and given the right tools can succeed at anything they wish to accomplish. My love for teaching Spanish comes from my own personal background. I am very proud of my Hispanic ethnicity and my Dominican nationality and enjoy transmitting this to my students. I look forward to working with your children this new school year and hope to meet you all soon.

Welcome back!
Dear parents and guardians, it has been a very difficult year and a half for all of us, but we continue to work hard so that every child that attends AP Morris ECC receives the best education possible. The first day of school is September 2nd and we're excited to welcome students back into our school building! I am looking forward to the new school year and teaching your children Spanish face to face. I will work hard to make sure your children receive the best Spanish lessons possible. Please encourage your children to come to school everyday, so that they're able to participate in all class activities independently. I look forward to co-teaching with you this school year.
Let´s celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month all year long!
Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. The first ever Hispanic Heritage Month was celebrated on a national level in 1968. According to the Census Bureau, the U.S. Hispanic population is 60.6 million as of July 1, 2019, "making people of Hispanic origin the nation’s largest ethnic or racial minority." Spanish is the second most-spoken language in the United States.
