11th grade Fine Arts

My name is Heather Graves Bankston.  I grew up in the Baker and Zachary areas and graduated from Zachary High School in 1991.  I attented LSU and then SELU and graduated in 1995.  I married my college sweetheart (George Bankston)  in 1997 and we have two wonderful and talented girls.  Ashlyn, our oldest, just graduated in May from LSU majoring in Ag Ecoomics.  Samantha, the youngest, is a senior at LSU majoring in  Ag Education. She will be getting married in October and will graduate in December. My husband is a Superintendant for a contracting company and has worked in Rhodia for the last decade.

I began teaching in East Feliciana Parish in 2001 as a second grade teacher.  I then moved to another school in East Feliciana to be a librarian and middle school English teacher.  Next came an offer from Silliman Institute to teach 7th grade English and to be their librarian as well. While at Silliman, I also taught 11th and 12th grade English and elementary P.E. I enjoyed that position until we decided to move to Zachary.  I began subbing in Zachary and within a few months was employed by them in the Special Education classroom.  I continued that position until my youngest child graduated from Zachary High School (11 years later).  We moved back to our property in Clinton two years ago and I was blessed to be offered a job here at SCCS.  This is, by far, the best learning environment I have worked in thus far.  This is my 22nd year in education.

I'm looking forward to this year and all the excitement it will bring.
