Meet the Teacher

Welcome back to school and welcome to our class webpage.   I am 4th grade teacher, Michelana Byrd. I hold a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, and I am ESOL endorsed.   I have been teaching at North Hamilton for almost 20 years.  I currently teach 4th grade but have also taught 2nd and 3rd grades.  I am married to Chris Byrd from Jacksonville, Florida, and we have two beautiful daughters, Mikayla and Cassidy. Mikayla is in the 10th grade at HCHS, and Cassidy is in the 6th grade here at N.H.E.

The fourth grade is my favorite grade to teach.  My students never stop amazing me with the things they say or do each and every day.  It is my goal that I not only prepare my students for the next grade, but I that I prepare them for being a well-rounded and well-respected person in each of their lives.  Each of them knows that I expect not only 100% effort put forth for school work, but also for their behavior. They also know that I will give them the attention and respect they deserve while being under my direction. What they give back to me through hugs, notes, or those times when the "light bulb comes on" is what makes my job worthwhile.
