Welcome to my homepage!! I'm Shannon Tvrz, one of the 4th Grade Teachers at Huntsville Intermediate School. We moved to Huntsville from Nebraska 20 years ago, and all four of our children were born here. Wow! Where does the time go!! We have a daughter who just started college up at C of O by Branson, a daughter and a son in high school, and a daughter in middle school...so we appreciate the Huntsville School System! My husband, Tyler, has taught at the High School for the last 7 years, after teaching 13 years in the 5th grade. He's teaching Civics, Pre-AP Civics, American History, Psychology, and Geography this year and excited about that!
Fourth Grade is an absolutely AWESOME time in the scheme of things!! School is such a huge part of a child's day; and we want to make that time both worthwhile and fun!! Every year we work on "raising the bar" in expectations for our students. Each year that expectation grows, and each year the kiddos rise to it. They are an amazing bunch, and the part of my job that I love best is seeing them strive to reach new goals and challenges. Working side by side, the music, art, p.e., library, computer, resource, g/t, classroom teachers, counselors, principals, and paraprofessionals, offer our kids the very best teaching strategies, learning opportunities, and access to information. Hearing and seeing things in more than one way benefits all of our students. I am very excited about the possibilities that this school year brings with it, and I hope you are too!!
To the right you will find some awesome links that you may like to utilize from your home computer. With the Accelerated Reader link, you can find the reading and point levels of any book that is in that system. The Discovery Site for History, Science, and Literature is an interesting site that allows you to type in an area to search, then brings up different articles for you to read on that subject. You shouldn't need a User ID to get into it, and if you need a password it should be diamonds. There are also two types of encyclopedias linked. For the Encyclopedia Britannica the User ID is huntsvillehigh, and the password is learn. Feel free to explore these links...a great spot to spend some time reading with your child!
