CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

HIGH SCHOOL BAND:  Consist primarily of marching band (12 weeks beginning in the late July) and concert band (24 weeks beginning in November. This is a continuation of instrumental music education that should begin at the middle school level.

GUITAR I:  Students will learn the basics of how to play the guitar with extensive on-hands experience obtained through daily instruction. Students taking guitar I should have their own acoustic guitar. Electric guitars may be used with instructors permission but they are discouraged. Chord, rhythm, and note playing are the primary concentration.

GUITAR II:    The purpose of this course is an extension of Guitar I with special emphasis given to chord useage, songwriting, and extended chords.

CLASSROOM RULES: Students will have all materials needed for given class. Students should have a pencil at all times in any music class. Students will not interfere with the learning process as established by Mr. Baskin, or any instrumental music teacher.  Students will follow all Huntsville High School and Huntsville School District rules.

GRADING POLICY: Band and Guitar are performing classes. Accordingly, special emphasis will be placed on student performance  on their instruments. Although uncommon, students will at times be expected to take written tests based on classroom information.
