The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Program is designed to assist students in learning the English language. It is the goal of our program to create students that are proficient in reading, writing, listening, and speaking English.
Program Information:
1. Students are assessed for language profiency based on a survey parents complete when they enroll in Huntsville Schools.
2. If it is determined the student needs assistance in any area of English, the child will be recommended for ESOL services.
3. Parents, teachers, administrators, and other personnel will be notified of the student's proficiency level and modifications the student will receive for the language barrier.
4. Annual reviews of progress will be held for all ESOL students.
Service Description:
ESOL students are serviced in a variety of ways. The Language Placement Committee will determine which service is best for individual students. Some of the services include pull-out (small group), inclusive (in classroom with ESL teacher/paraprofessional help), and ESL class (secondary level).
