Dear Parents,
Well, from the looks of things, it is time to let the holiday season begin! Please remember we have school next week on Monday – Tuesday, November 21 – 22. No school Wednesday – Friday as we all celebrate Thanksgiving Day!
We have two talented artists here at school whose work is currently on display at Sappington Orthodontists. Gabby Britt and Jenny Cho are the featured artists. Congratulations, ladies!
Next week our fourth graders head to St. Augustine for their annual visit to that historic city. They leave very early on Monday, November 21. Remember, fourth graders, the bus waits for no one! Be on time for a 7:30 sharp departure.
The Academic Focus for the week is Sequencing in Reading and Operations in Mathematics. Sequencing refers to putting story events in order in which they occurred. Operations means the basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Third graders must memorize those multiplication tables. There really is no other way to learn and remember them. And heaven help a fifth grader who cannot multiply and divide.
We all send our best wishes to you, our Wonderful Wiles Families, for a lovely and peaceful Thanksgiving Holiday. Even though times may be tough, we all have so much to be thankful for. We are especially thankful to you for sending us such bright, hardworking, and cheerful students each and every day. You make our lives such a pleasure.
Sincerely,
Barbara Buys
Principal

Dear Parents,
I hope you were able to attend our annual Veterans Day Program today. This is such a special event and so important for our boys and girls. It helps them to understand the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform, past and present, and their invaluable contributions to our nation. The fifth graders sang beautifully, and it is always fun to have the Kanapaha Concert Band here in performance. Plus it was fun to meet the Vets of our own fifth graders! Special thanks to Ms. Olsen, Mr. Duke, and Mr. McNeill. Great job!
Please remember there is no school tomorrow, Friday, November 11. This is the official Veterans Day holiday. Remember the festivities at Kanapaha Park tomorrow. Those are wonderful, too.
Picture re-takes are coming up on Friday, November 18. If you were not satisfied with your child’s school picture, our photographer is happy to do a re-take.
The SAC meets on Wednesday, November 16 at 4:00 in the Media Center here at school. On the agenda will be an update on our School Improvement Plan. Please join us if you can. You are always welcome!
It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner! And we all know what comes on the heels of Thanksgiving – the Winter Holidays! So this week is the last one for After School Tutoring for our third – fifth grade students. We will begin again after the Winter Holidays.
Our Clinic could use some clean clothing for Kindergarteners, especially shorts and pants. Thanks for helping.
We have wonderful little artists here at Kimball Wiles Elementary, thanks to the efforts of Ms. Pettigrew and Ms. Zidonik, artistes extraordinaire! The following students in Ms. Elder’s class have artwork on display at M&S Bank. The young artists are Ran Zhao, Makhail Smith, Jayden Ortiz, Andrew Lewis, Jared Kolb, Jordan Hanner, Clayton Arthur, Isabella Anderson, William Marvin, Jaiden Brant, and Kyeasha Brown. Good job!
The Academic Focus for next week is Fact and Opinion in Reading and Data Analysis in Mathematics.
Have a great long week-end!
Sincerely,

Dear Parents,
The month of November seems to be full of four-day school weeks! Remember there is no school tomorrow, Friday, November 4. It is UF Homecoming! There is also no school next Friday, November 11 as we all celebrate Veterans Day.
We hope you will join us on Thursday, November 10 for our annual Veterans Day program at 12:30 on the hard court. Our second through fifth grade students will join us for a wonderful presentation by local vets, the Kanapaha Middle School Band, and the GHS color guard and we would love to see you there, too. We are inviting our boys and girls to bring their own relatives who are veterans so that we can celebrate their service to our country. We are all looking forward to a great afternoon at Kimball Wiles Elementary!
Next week our first graders will be on a field trip to the farm on Monday, November 7. Remember we must have a working phone number on file for your child in order for him/her to accompany the class on any field trip. We also need the original signed permission form. Make sure both items are taken care of before next Monday!
Report Cards will be sent home next week on Tuesday, November 8. These cards reflect your child’s grades for the first nine weeks of this school year. If you are concerned or have questions, call your child’s teacher right away. We’re here to help!
Coach P. will host a Social for children in grades 3 – 5 on Wednesday, November 9 right after school. To participate, your child will need $5.00 and maybe a dollar or so for a snack. They will all have such fun as they dance the afternoon away!
Our Parent Portal is now open to all Wiles parents who have registered for an account. The Parent Portal allows you to monitor your child’s attendance, grades, missing assignments, etc. If you do not have an account, come by the front office between 8:00 and 3:30 Monday – Friday and we’ll help you get started.
The Academic Focus for the week is Compare and Contrast in Reading and Algebraic Thinking in Mathematics.
Have a lovely long week-end!
Sincerely,
Barbara Buys
