June 1, 2012

Dear Parents,

How can it be June 1 already?  That means we are almost finished with this school year!  But remember we have three days next week and our academic program keeps going.  We’ll have some fun, too.

Please remember – Early Dismissal at 12:30 on Monday – Wednesday, June 5 - 6.  You must pick your children up on time!

Fifth grade Graduation is on Wednesday, June 6 at 8:30 AM on the hardcourt.  Space is limited so we are requesting that you limit attendance to two adults per child.  A reception will follow the ceremony in the fifth grade quad.

Fifth grade Talent Show is Monday, June 4 at 8:30 AM in the cafeteria.  We will have two grade levels in the audience.  Parents, please sit in the last few rows.  Fifth grade also has a picnic at Kanapaha Park on Tuesday, June 5.  Those fifth graders are busy!

Summer School for eligible third grade and ESOL students in grades K – 3 begins on Monday, June 11 at 8:00 AM sharp.  School dismisses at 1:00 Monday – Thursday.  No school on Friday’s during the summer!

All library books are now due.  Parents are responsible for lost or damaged library books and textbooks.  We will send the bill if your child has not returned all books checked out to him or her.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Food4Kids backpack grogram.  You are generous beyond words.  We will do it again next year, too!

Next week we’ll relax the dress code a bit and have some fun.  So Monday will be Hat Day, Tuesday will be Summer Fun Day (no dress code), and Wednesday will be Dress Up Day.  We’ll end the year on a high note and look our very best!

It’s time to get those letters in about next year’s classroom placement.  I’ll accept your letters through Friday, June 8.  You can email, too, at buysbn@gm.sbac.edu or use the form on the back of this newsletter.

Report Cards and FCAT test results will be sent home with the boys and girls on Wednesday, June 6.

School starts up again on Monday, August 20.  Don’t let your children’s hard work this school year slip away over the summer.  Make sure they read each day for at least 20 minutes.  And make sure you read to them each day, too.  Children love it and you will, too.

Have a wonderful summer and thank you so much for a great school year!

Sincerely,

Barbara Buys
