WELCOME TO MY READ 180 CLASSROOM
WELCOME TO MY READ 180 CLASSROOM
This is a two period curriculum for language arts, as well as reading. In my classroom, students become better readers and writers. Students rotate to stations for an individualized Read 180 computer program, teacher directed small group activities, independent reading, and whole class instruction.
Students are expected to bring paper and pencils to class everyday. This is part of their class work grade. A pencil sharpener that holds the shavings is a very useful tool in any classroom, because it cuts down on the disruptions and off-task behaviors that occur when students get up to sharpen their pencils. My students will need a notebook or two folders that can remain in the classroom. A spiral notebook or a compostion book is also needed for journal writing.
Homework is assigned on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays. Homework must be returned the next day. I will not accept late homework. If students do not complete class work, they can take it home and return to me the next day. Since class work is 60%-70% of the overall grade, I strongly encourage students to take advantage of the option to get help at home.
