Science Announcements

Many parents have asked about accessing the science book online.  I am still waiting for a reply from the district regarding that question.  However, we now have access to an even better resource!  Please check the links page of this site for access to discoveryeducation.com.

3rd Grade: FIELD TRIP!!!! I am very excited about our trip on Friday.  Thanks to all the parents who have volunteered their time to chaperone.

Lab Wish List

Let the list begin!!! It's random, it's weird, it's science with kids!!!

THANKS SO MUCH TO THE MANY PARENT THAT HAVE HELPED OUT WITH GATHERING STUFF OR VOLUNTEERING TIME!  LOOK HOW THE LIST HAS CHANGED!!

*= Hard for Ms. Brady to get!!    ***=NEW ITEM

*If you are interested in volunteering your time for a more involved project, please get in touch with me.  There is a science closet (more like a small storage room) that is begging to be cleaned out, inventoried, and organized.  It's the type of project that seems overwhelming for one person, but that a few people could knock out in a few hours.

Kosher Salt

Baking Soda

Balloons (the round kind, 12in works best!)

Food coloring

4th Grade News

Now that we have some experience with potential and kinetic energy, we are moving on to waves of energy, specifically sounds waves.  Students have explored the world of vibrations by making a "Crowing Cup"  which you will hear all about when it comes home!!   We will be using the cups to explore the scientific method and formulate an experiment based on questions we have come up with during our crowing observations.

5th Grade News

TEST!!!  This FRIDAY.  The test will cover the states of matter, chemical and physical changes, mixtures and solutions, properties of matter, the water cycle, chemical formulas, and matter measurement.  Students have a review sheet as well as papers in their folders to study.  I also encourage you to use discoveryeducation.com as a SUPER way to review.  Go to the links page to get access code!

Show and Tell

It is awesome when students decide to bring something from home.  It shows they are thinking and connected.  I will go through the procedures for signing up to share.  It often happens that multiple children will bring something to share.  It is really disappointing for them if we don't have time.  If your student does sign up to share, I will be sure to remind them. We will share on Tuesdays or Fridays depending on when your student has lab.
