3rd Grade News

We continue our studies of the rocks that make the crust of earth, making models of sedimentary and metamorphic rocks.  Looking for some rock fun at home?  Take a look at the links for some review or fun, like virtual volcanoes!

4th Grade News

The air potato was a great success, even in the rain!!  We now will begin our studies of how the land we live on is affected by the water that covers it.  We will create "stream tables", models of land that we will run water over for experiment and observation.  It all begins with noticing.  While you are out and about, take a minute to point out and notice ways that water has shaped the land around us!  Take a trip to Devil's Milhopper or one of the many creeks around Gainesville! (see our links!)

5th Grade News

We have begun our studies of space with some interesting discussions about gravity and the sphere we live on.  Today we will begin to place Earth into our solar system. We will be studying the moon next week!  Please take some time to go out each day to look at the moon.  Discuss why it looks the way it does!

Show and Tell

It is awesome when students decide to bring something from home.  It shows they are thinking and connected.   It often happens that multiple children will bring something to share.  It is really disappointing for them if we don't have time.  If your student does sign up to share, I will be sure to remind them. We will share on Tuesdays or Fridays depending on when your student has lab.
