Reading Skill: Author's Purpose

Science
We are working in chapter 8 the processes of the Earth.

Writing/Social Studies
We will be using the Social Studies block to better prepare for the FCAT. We will be working in our Math, Science and Reading FCAT workbooks. Look for FCAT sample booklets and stories to come home Monday through Thursday. Social Studies will resume in March.

Passwords
can be found in the front of their planners for AR, VMath and Ticket to Read. Passwords also went home for the online textbooks and  FCAT Explorer. Passwords are also available for the online gradebook. If you misplaced or forgot yours please let me know and I will send you another.

Fluency
Timed Reading fluency sheets are sent home on the Monday  or Friday before it is to be tested. Please listen to your child as they read to ensure they get the best possible score.

Planners
are to be filled out daily by the student and signed by the parent. The name of the book they read that night is to be placed in the bottom portion of that day's block. Every student should be reading nightly for at least 20 minutes. This is part of their Reading Grade. Unsigned, unfilled or partically filled blocks will result in a loss of points. Each student is requires to have at least 5 AR points this marking period. These books are marked with a red band on the spine and can be found both in the library and in our classroom.
