I. OVERVIEW OF THE COURSE

 This course is designed to provide students with basic computer application skills. For a minimum of six weeks, students will be introduced to the touch method of operating a computer keyboard in order to produce simple business documents. Emphasis is placed on basic computer concepts, hardware and software, word processing and spreadsheet applications.

III. GRADING PROCEDURES

A. Written quiz/test

B. Keyed quizzes and sets of jobs which must be completed in class.

C. Keyed classwork assignments completed in class.

D. Technique grades

E. All keyed assignments must be completed in class.

F. All assignments must be turned in on the due date or the resulting grade will be lowered for each late day.

G. All make-up work must be completed within one week of returning. The work must be completed during recess not during classtime.
 

IV. OFFICE SIMULATION JOB SETS

There is one job simulation which will be assigned to the students during the term. This simulation is worth two test grades and must be completed.

 

V. EMPLOYMENT PROJECT

This project is worked on at home with the final copies being keyed in class. The project is worth two test grades. Failure to complete the project will result in an incomplete on the report card and the privilege card being pulled for 2 weeks.

  

VI. GRADE-IMPROVEMENT CERTIFICATES

These certificates are awarded to students at various unannounced times throughout the term for various reasons. These are to be used by the student during the grading period that it is issued. The certificates will be used to raise one test grade by one letter. It is not to be used on the exam or the conduct grade. If the student has an “A” average and does not need to use the certificates for that period, the certificates will then be carried over to the next grading period.
