Welcome to my Homepage! I am very excited about this school year. This year has seen many changes -- from the state's new Comprehensive Curriculum to our school's implementation of OnCourse Lesson Plan page. Both have provided much growth for me personally.
These "changes" also benefit you, the parent! Our Comprehensive Curriculum's exciting (and often challenging) activities insure that all of the state's Grade-Level Expectations for each student are met. Furthermore, what's exciting about OnCourse is that it allows for you, the parent, to keep informed of your child's assignments. I hope you and your child will benefit from both!
I teach both English I and 8th grade English (Honors). I have been teaching at Houma Jr. High School for 18 years! I have to say that HJH is an awesome school! I am currently working on my Master's of Education Degree. With only three classes left, I should finish next school year!
One of my passions at HJH is Cross Trainers, a non-denominational Christian club I sponsor. This club meets every Wednesday at lunch recess. Each week we have a different guest speaker. We also enjoy many activities throughout the year. In the fall, Cross Trainers sponsors a school-wide retreat. This after-school event is always so much fun! We have a scavenger hunt, flag-making contest, wild and crazy games, a Christian guest speaker, and band. Then in the spring, we have a lock-in for Cross Trainer members only. This all-nighter is even more fun than the fall retreat.
I will be posting my course syllabus soon; however, I have given each of my students a copy. I hope this school year will be a very rewarding year for each of my students.
