PUBLICATIONS
Publications that I have illustrated that can be checked out from the district library are as follows. My last illustrated book is Water from Stones. The cover was created with mixed media. My last magazine cover was for Acadiana Publishing. It was a portrait of Katherine Drexel. (2000 publication) This was my favorite illustration assignment because Katherine Drexel lived to bring the spirit of education to what it should be. She gave up her life of physical riches to share with the lowly and bring forth the transformational power of education to all.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Art and music have always given me opportunity to share with my community.
Houma Jr. High became my home school in August of 2006. My students amaze me with their awesome talent! This year my ninth graders won the Best of Show, first, second, third place, and honorable mention in the district 's school exhibit. I also teach art, music, and dance for children at the South Louisiana Center of the Arts with my daughter Michelle. I integrate music whenever I can, especially when my daughter and son can contribute. My son performed with my class at the center to teach students about the awesome sound of a trumpet! Michelle sings and softly plays music for my students as I teach them the arts. My students adore her talent and kindness.
I have played the clarinet for the Thibodaux Playhouse Orchestra, the South Louisiana Community Orchestra. I was the founding chairperson of the Houma Terrebonne Community Band and perform with them on a regular basis. I have played the violin with the South Louisiana Concert Orchestra. I love to use the violin to entertain children and older students. This, I have done at schools such as West Park Elementary, Merry Oaks, Legion, and Genesis Alternative High School.
