Dear parents:
The Fall semester is the beginning of our 2009-2010 school year and it is finally here. I know the children are looking forward all the cultural gatherings that come with the Spanihs class. This is a time to meet new children who are eager to learn Spanish and their parents; to welcome back those have already taken Spanish I, and to reassure all of you that your children will be given the opportunity to grow not only learning about other cultures, but also learning the basis for language acquisition. I am looking forward another wonderful and productive year at South Terrebonne High School. The classroom is ready for a wonderful season. The expectations are set very high in my class. Students are expected to participate, to keep up with the lessons, and to do homework. All will be part of their overall grade. Spanish only gets easier after all the hard work and memorization starts to pay off. Some will get there quickly, and some will struggle, but all will be expected to do their best. There will be vocabulary drills, grammar rules and applications such as role play. In addition to the culture of other lands, the students will learn how other people live, not only in the Spanish-speaking countries, but also around the world. Please schedule a parent conference if you think your child is in need of extra help.
You are cordially invited to VISIT our classroom during your child’s class period (2nd- 3rd- or 4th with prior notice, please.) At special times, during the year, we might be outside by the gazebo having cultural gatherings with food, music and games. Again, this will also be a good time for you to come and share some time with us. However, remember that I will not be able to address individual concerns at that time. I am available for questions about individual children during the 1st period, 7:30-8:45 every day. If you decide to come, please send in the note on the bottom of this letter about a week before as a notice that you intend to visit or schedule a conference. You certainly are welcome.
