Welcome 2010-2011
Students and Parents!
I am so excited to be a part of your eighth grade school year. I have had the pleasure of teaching at FJHS since I graduated in secondary English education from Southeastern Louisiana University in May of 2000 at the age of 48! In December of 2007, I recieved National Board Certification, and this December I will graduate with a master's degree in Educational Leadership.
I love teaching eighth grade because I think it is the most exciting year in junior high school! It is the end of an era. We have a good time, but we work hard because the education you receive will determine the kind of future you have. I expect my students to give their very best, as that is what I will give to each of you. Ideally, parents should encourage daily reading and assist with home-learning activities. This is an important year because we are preparing for the demands of high school. My goal is to challenge each of you so that you become an independent learner who can easily make the transition into high school and to ensure your success as a life-long learner.
Parents, please remember that assisting with activities at home helps your child become a better learner, whereas doing the activities for them only hinders his or her learning.
For updated information, be sure to visit the links listed to the left of this message where you will find pictures of students, fantastic grades, information on what is happening in our classes, and upcoming events.
On a personal note, God has blessed me with my wonderful husband, Jimmy, and three of the most amazing people I know - Ryan, Jacy, and Gregg. In addition to my family and teaching, I love reading, gardening, listening to music, challenging games, and being a fan of The Super Bowl Champion SAINTS!
SOME THINGS TO REMEMBER:
We are all in this together; we each have a part in making this year successful.
Participate in only positive activities.
Always have a positive attitude! Anything else is unacceptable.
