Welcome to what will be a great year at Franklinton Jr. High!  We will be discovering and learning a great deal of new concepts this year through group work, hands on activities, and technology. We will have fun and do our best to succeed.  Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you acheive in math.

WHAT WE WILL BE COVERING

Will start out the school year covering long multiplication and division.  Next, we will learn about powers, exponents, and square roots.  This will end our first unit.  Unit 2 covers decimals, fractions, and percents.  We will discover place value, fractions (including how to add and subtract with fractions), ordering fractions and decimals, decimal and fraction estimation, and converting between fractions, decimals, and percents. Unite 3 covers geometry.  We will learn about angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, coordinate planes, finding area and perimeter of polygons, and circumference of circles.  I am looking forward to sharing all the neat things that you can discover with math!

"Bear in mind that the wonderful things you learn in your schools are the work of many generations. All this is put in your hands as your inheritance in order that you may receive it, honor it, add to it, and one day faithfully hand it on to your children."
