Welcome to 6th grade ELA at FJHS.
Dear Parents,
My name is Denise Gilmore and I will be teaching your child reading and English (ELA) this year. This is my fifth year of teaching and I truly love my job!
Becoming a teacher has always been a dream of mine. Although I am a “late” bloomer, I eventually flourished. At the ripe old age of 40, I graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University. I have a bachelor’s degree in education and I am highly qualified in middle school ELA. Currently, I am obtaining my master’s degree in Educational Leadership. I will graduate from SELU in December.
I am married to Mike and have two daughters and four granddaughters. My oldest daughter, Meagan, is a nurse and has three girls: Madison (5), Kaitlyn (2 1/2) and Brylee (12 weeks). Mallory, my youngest daughter, is a nurse and has a daughter named Khloe (3 days). I love to read, write, sing and play with my grandbabies. I am a Christian and I am active in my church.
My philosophy of education is that all students can learn if given the right atmosphere and opportunity. I encourage all parents to be actively involved in their child’s educational career.
Feel free to visit our classroom, email or call me.
