Welcome

Welcome to Live Oak Middle School online. We appreciate you visiting our website and hope it allows you to be more involved in your child’s school life. At Live Oak Middle, we value family involvement because we know that what we teach at school must be reinforced at home to truly be effective. Together we can make your child’s educational experience a solid foundation on which they may build a successful life. There are many links provided for you on this site to make your virtual experience as informative as possible. If you have any additional questions, please contact the school office at (225)664-3211.

2013-2014 Spirit Shirt order form

To prevent parents from having to come to school and pick up report cards, we are asking that parents send $2 to school to pay for postage and big envelopes so we can send them home. Students are to turn this in to their homeroom teacher. Thanks for your support.

FINAL BENCHMARK TEST EXEMPTIONS:

Students will receive exemption tickets for Perfect Attendance for the year, having all fees paid, perfect attendance during LEAP/iLEAP week, and “A” avg. for the year in Science and Social Studies on May 10th (tests to be administered May 13-16). The remaining exemptions will be given May 13-17 after all textbooks have been turned in(English Language Arts, Math, and Electives tests will be administered May 20-21). All fees, fines, cafeteria charges, and any money owed to LOMS is due May 10th, 8 am. Students will not be given the exemptions until cleared of all debts. No exemptions will be awarded after May 17th. These tickets are to be given to parents as notification of the exemption from a test. This DOES NOT mean that the students are exempt from assignments, projects, or any other work in any classes. Many teachers are finishing units and have required assignments planned for the week of May 13-17 and students must attend school to complete these assignments. The last official day of school is May 22nd. Students exempt from their final benchmark tests will not have to be present May 20-22 unless they have to take a test. We are very proud of the students who worked so hard to earn the exemptions and if your child is exempt from a final and is present at school when the test is given, the exemption will still be honored.

Thanks for your continued support,

Ryan Hodges

For safety reasons we are streamlining our procedures for visitors to the school. Please make sure that if you visit the school, you enter the front doors of the school and report directly to the office and remain inside the office until you have finished the visit. All other entrances to the school are for students, faculty, and staff only. We will require a picture ID and check your child's information to ensure whoever is here is allowed to check out students, request records, participate in conferences, etc. If you have to go anywhere on campus other than the office, you will be issued a pass with your name, destination, and time of arrival. Once you have finished the visit, we ask that you report back to the office and turn in that pass. I also wanted to remind everyone that the car rider line on the West side of the building is the only place students should be dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon. The gravel drive on the East side of the building is for faculty and staff only. We do not have anyone stationed on that side of the building and, for safety reasons, ask that you do not drop students off there in the morning or pick them up there in the afternoon. The front drive is for buses only in the morning until 7:30 and in the afternoon after 2:15. Your children are as important to us as they are to you, so our first priority is their safety. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
