Physics is the study if the laws that determine the structure of the universe with reference to the matter and energy of which it consist. The course will include topics such as measurements, motion, energy, forces, work, power, waves, electricity, and magnetism.
Physics for the Technologies is a course designed to prepare students more effectively for technical careers. The course is designed to be both academically rigorous and practical for students planning technical careers. Students will be expected to use higher order thinking skills to evaluate, assess, and judge physical theories and topics. Students will need to have taken Algebra I and currently enrolled in Algebra II. Math Tech I or Math Tech II can be substituted for Algebra I. Geometry and trigonometry are highly recommended.
Physical Science is a laboratory course that integrates principles of chemistry and physics. The intent of this course is the conceptual understanding of the world around us. This Physical Science course will provide a knowledge base about the physical universe and a foundation for other high school science courses. Students will spend more time in problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, and applied learning activities in the classroom. Much of the factual knowledge will be the responsibility of the individual student to acquire through reading the text, vocabulary and class notes. Physical Science is a 10th grade level semester course and will count as one science unit toward high school graduation
