In Physical Education at West Elementary we are doing all different kinds of fun and exciting games and activities.

 

In Pre-K the children will partcipate in activities that foster fundamental motor and movement skills, such as walking and running, which are necessary for participation in games and sports throughout life.  We will work on developing motor skills such as throwing, catching, and kicking.

In Kindergarten the focus will be on learning basic body control while moving in various ways.  The students will become aware of strength, endurance, and flexibility in different parts of their body.  They will learn these movements and control through simple games.

In First grade the focus will be on continuing to develop body control and movement skills.  The students will learn more about Health related fitness. Students will also learn basic skills like throwing and catching. They will continue to learn through simple games and learn to apply safety practices that go along with physical activity.

In Second Grade the focus will be on maturing skills.  Students will continue to learn more about Health related fitness.  The students will be introduced to working in a group for a common goal.  They will also continue to learn through lead up games and simple games.

In Third Grade the students will begin to learn more mature movement forms.  Students will begin to learn age specific game skills.  They will also begin to learn game strategies, rules, and etiquette.
