Hello and welcome to the new school year!  The First Grade is an exciting 
time for your child!  I am looking forward to meeting you and to working with 
your child.  I will do my best to make your child's time in my class a 
productive and funfilled learning experience.  I believe all children can 
learn and thrive with the right support and tools.  I also believe that the 
more we work together the more your child will succeed!  

Your child will receive a folder labeled with his/her name. The folder 
contains a school calendar which will also be used to record your child's 
behavior each day. Behavior and academics go hand in hand.  If misbehaviors 
are occurring consistently, your child is not learning to his or her full 
potential. Please encourage your child, as I do, to make good choices each 
day! Please check this each day and initial in each day's box to show you 
have seen your child's behavior report for that day.  I will also use the 
calendar to communicate with you if needed.  

Please make sure your child is bringing his/her homework folder back to 
school each day with Spelling and Reading homework completed.  
  
Math facts flash cards and vocabulary list are being placed in your child's 
folder.  Please practice these facts and vocabulary words each day and look 
for new sets of math facts to be added.
