Open House--Tuesday August 17, 2010 5:30-6:30
Dear Parents,
Welcome to third grade! I am excited to have your child in my room this year. We have many things to discover and learn and our greatest priority will be improving student achievement. I hope that will be a goal we share.
Some of you I know and others I don’t so I would like to share a few things about myself. This is my fifth year here at Huntsville, and I am EXTRA DELIGHTED to be sharing it with you and your child. In May 2006 I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and Child Development from the College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri. I also have my MSE, in Reading, from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway and am now a certified Reading Specialist. I am looking forward to this school year because of some of the new learning experiences I want to share with your child.
Your child will be expected to follow the classroom rules and procedures decided upon by the class. In the packet of information received at open house, you can read about our classroom discipline procedures and other daily activities that take place daily in our classroom.
Students will be expected to complete class work each day. Any work not completed in class is HOMEWORK. Your child is expected to write any incomplete assignments in their agenda, which SHOULD be signed by a parent each night. This is the best way I have found to communicate between home and school. Students are expected to have classroom materials to work with each day. I know this is difficult at times. If this creates a problem for you, please let me know and we will work something out.
I will send home papers on Tuesday, each week, with past graded assignments, upcoming projects, school news, and any special notices. Please review, sign the return sheet in the appropriate space, and return the signature sheet only, to school, with your child, each Wednesday.
