Welcome to Third Grade!
This will be an exciting year, full of challenges and meaningful learning opportunities! I am very eager to get started! I cannot wait to get to know each of you, but in the meantime here is a little bit about me!
My name is Mrs Jolie Barrickman. I was married last June to my husband Scott, and this is my third year teaching third grade. I grew up in Akron, Ohio and went to school at Baldwin Wallace College where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I taught Special Ed. for three years in Ohio before moving to Hendersonville in September of 2004. In the past I have taught Special Ed. at both Nannie Berry Elementary and Walton Ferry Elementary. I am very excited about teaching your child third grade curriculum, and I am looking forward to a fabulous school year!
Parents,
Third grade is a transitional year, and I am here to help students through the process of taking on more responsibility and learning to be accountable for his/her own learning. This year will present students with many challenges. Not only will each child learn difficult concepts, but he or she will also be asked to take on a great deal of responsibility. The life skills that we focus on in third grade will set the stage for success in the years to come. I believe that communication is the key to that success, so please do not hesitate to contact me at any time throughout the year. I check email throughout the day, so that is the best way to contact me (jolie.barrickman@sumnerschools.org). Also, feel free to send a note with your child, or call the school and leave me a voice mail (822-3123). I will return your call as soon as I am able. Thank you in advance for your support!
