Still collecting used cell phones, small electronic devices and ink cartridges in the science lab (Rm. 404.) The items are then recycled through "Recycling Fundraisers" and the proceeds benefit the Pohatcong Staff Scholarship. Please read the following passage from the "Recycling Newsletter" Issue #105:

Reduce - When you recycle a used phone many of the metals and raw materials can be reclaimed.  This significantly reduces the need for further metals mining and saves many of the Earth's natural resources.
Reuse - Many people forget about reuse when it comes to recycling.  Did you know that more than 80% of the cell phones Recycling Fundraiser receives can actually be repaired or refurbished and reused right here in the United States?
Recycle - This is where the loop comes back around to reuse.  The reclamation of metals, plastics and other components occurs in this phase.  Responsible recycling is critical.  That's why Recycling Fundraiser has a no landfill, no incinerator, no export and no prison labor pledge.
More than 1 Million cell phones are no longer being used.  If we recycled all of them we would save enough energy to power 18,500 US households for a YEAR!  In addition, we would save more than 158,200,000,000 gallons of water from potential contamination (due to the harmful elements in cell phones which can leach into ground water if not recycled properly).
