Important Classroom Information
Important Classroom Information
Please read and retain for reference during the school year. Thanks!
Arrival: Children should enter the building between 8:45 and 9:00. After that time, attendance will be taken. If your child arrives after that time, please go to the main office and let Mrs. Tracy, the secretary, know that your child is late.
Absences: Please call the school nurse when your child is going to be absent.
Labels: Please mark all of your child’s personal belongings with his/her name. Many of the children have similar items and confusion may arise.
Snack: Please send your child’s snack in a separate bag from his/her lunch in order to prevent any confusion. Please remember to send your child with a snack every day. Also, please be sure to send in a snack every day and please refrain from sending in candy, soda, and glass.
Notices: Your child’s folder will be the place where notices can be neatly stored. All notes for absences, changes in dismissal, book club orders, permission slips, etc. should be sent to school in your child’s folder. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO GO THROUGH ALL ITEMS IN YOUR CHILD’S FOLDER EACH DAY IN ORDER TO BE AWARE OF ALL CLASSROOM EVENTS AND IMPORTANT NOTICES!
Birthdays: On or near your child’s birthday, you may send in a snack for the class if you choose. Some popular favorites are cupcakes, Munchkins, and cookies. Please be in touch to confirm the date. Items should be dropped off before the start of the school day. If you cannot arrive before 9:00, please leave the treats in the main office and let the secretary know that they are for our class. Invitations for home parties should not be distributed in school unless the ENTIRE class has been invited. You may also use the school directory to get addresses for mailing. Sometimes the class size changes throughout the year, so check with me for an accurate count. For children with summer birthdays, we can arrange to celebrate in June.
Delayed Openings: Children should arrive at 10:45 and will be dismissed at the usual time. The cafeteria DOES NOT serve lunch on these days. Please make sure to send your child to school with a lunch.
Half Days: Children are dismissed at 1:00 on such days. Again, THE CAFETERIA DOES NOT SERVE LUNCH ON HALF DAYS!
Special Events:
*Halloween Party
*Winter Party in December
*100th Day Celebration
*End of Year Party
* Others might be included!
Parents who sign up to attend a party might be called upon to work with the room mothers to plan it. Sign-up sheets for class parties, as well as Centers, Writers’ Workshop, Mystery Reader, and Silent Helpers will be made available at Back to School Night.
Personal Observations: Please have you child eat a good breakfast and use the bathroom before coming to school. I cannot stress enough the importance of reading to your child every day and know that I practice what I preach! Take a few minutes each day to share the papers, work, and stories that your child brings home. They are proud of their work and want to share it with you most of all!
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at any time. My voice mail extension at Liberty Corner is 307 I can also be reached at lbrouillard@bernardsboe.com. A note in your child’s folder will also work! I look forward to working with you and your child this school year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Brouillard
