Dear New Friend,

My name is Mrs. Brouillard and I am happy to write that I am going to be your kindergarten teacher this year!   I hope you have been having a wonderful summer.  I have been enjoying my summer with my family.  I have two daughters, Claire and Gracie.  Claire is 9 years old and will be starting fourth grade this September.  Gracie is 6 years old and will be going to first grade!

I cannot wait until you can tell me all about the adventures you have been having this summer.  I am inviting you to come meet me and see your new classroom on Tuesday, September 4th from 2:00 to 3:00.  Our classroom is Room 16 and is located on Honesty Hallway.  You will be able to take a tour of our classroom and meet some of your new friends.  When you come, please bring a photograph of you having fun this summer so that we can all share our stories with each other.

If you are not able to come on Wednesday, I will be able to meet you on the first day of school, Thursday, September 6th.  There are a few items that you are going to need once school starts.  Make sure you tell a grown-up that you need the following items:

  •          a healthy snack
  •         a towel for you to rest on at Quiet Time (This towel will go home every Friday to be washed and must come back every Monday.)
  •         a lunch from home or money to buy lunch at school
  •         a smock (a grown-up’s old t-shirt works best)
  •          a backpack that is big enough to hold these items!

There are a few school supplies that the kindergarten teachers are asking you to bring with you this year.  Target is Mrs. Brouillard’s favorite place to get these things and they are usually on sale!  All of the items that you bring in will be added to our community classroom supply baskets that you will be using with the friends at your table. You do not need to label them!

  •          (2) 24 count boxes of Crayola crayons
  •          2 boxes of Crayola washable fine tip markers
  •          2 boxes of Crayola washable broad tip markers
  •          6 glue sticks
  •          child-size Fiskar scissors
  •          1 package or box of pencils
  •          1 4 oz. Elmer’s School Glue
  •          one set of watercolor paints

I am very excited about spending the school year with you.  We are going to learn so many new and interesting things this year.  Enjoy the rest of your summer!

                                      Your teacher,

                                      Mrs. Brouillard
