The WAMS Media Center is a 21st century learning environment including complete wireless network access and three separate areas for group instruction, research and independent reading/studying/research activities:
The Cybrary is a desktop computer lab with wireless network, Internet and projection capability that allows faculty to demonstrate instructional material, show videos, listen to podcasts,and guide students in their own online research or course work.
The center section of the Media Center supports class instruction and research with or without computer use, and individual or small group studying or computer use. Projection capabilities are also available.
The side section of the Media Center provides another area to support class instruction or research with print materials and/or wireless laptops. Projection capabilities are also available.
The staff of the Media Center provide many services to both students and faculty including:
1. Scheduling/coordinating of the Cybrary and Media Center sections use by classes.
2. Research Instruction and Support for all grades and classes, including online database and Internet searching, print and primary source research, avoiding plagiarism and proper source citation instruction.
3. Full Circulation services including pulling materials for a class/teacher, check-in/out of materials (books, DVDs, equipment) for students and faculty and reminder service for material returns.
4. Readers Advisory - assisting students/faculty in selecting materials to meet school, professional and recreational reading needs.
5. Curriculum Support - staying on top of changes in all curriculum and selecting/purchasing print and online materials to support faculty and curriculum instruction.
6. Collection Development - Monitoring the collection for accuracy of nonfiction materials and replacing outdated resources as well as providing current fiction and nonfiction materials to support school, recreational and professional reading by faculty and students.
