All About Me
Hello! I’m Lynn Coggins and I’m delighted to be your child’s teacher. In the 16 years that I have been an educator, I have taught at the university level in Kansas and at the elementary level in North Carolina. I have also been an interpretative park ranger for the National Park Service.
My fluffy orange tabby cat, Copper, and I live in Pineville, NC where we love sitting on our deck on a Saturday morning enjoying the outdoors and the parade of deer that make their journey through our backyard along Little Sugar Creek. I have lived here since 2002 and enjoy the quiet, peaceful, small town atmosphere of the community.
I grew up in the Carolinas and graduated from Independence High School here in Charlotte. I am the oldest of 3 children, with a brother, Chris, who is a Naval Officer and a sister, Jennifer, who lives in South Carolina and works as a Human Resources Manager. I have one beautiful daughter, Angela Summer, who lives with her husband, Ed, and my two lovely granddaughters, Olivia (6) and Hallie (4) in Portland, Maine. I have spent many summers and holidays in the beautiful state of Maine. My daughter and her family love coming back home to our warm beaches. We love visiting with each other as often as we can.
After receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, I worked on my Master’s in Elementary Education at Kansas State University.I was a graduate teaching assistant and an instructor for the College of Education. Kansas is a wonderful place with a beauty of its own, but my heart longed for the Carolinas. Upon my return, I became a park ranger at Kings Mountain National Military Park where I learned a lot about the Southern Campaign of the Revolutionary War. I taught for the Kings Mountain School District for 2 years and have been a teacher in Charlotte since 2001.
I look forward to working with your child and you to create a love of learning and a passion for knowledge!
