School Information
School Day- School begins at7:50 am and will dismiss at2:15 pm. We begin our day with morning work so it’s important that your child is on time each day. Students who come in after 7:50 will be marked tardy. If your child rides the bus they will never be marked tardy even if the bus is late. We encourage all students to ride the bus.
Lunch- Please note the lunch price is $2.15 for students and $3.25 for adults and guests. Also, students must have cash or money in their account to receive the normal lunch. An alternate lunch will be provided for students without lunch money.
Specials- Our class is split up for Specials this year. Your child has their rotation pattern written in their agenda. It would be a great idea for them to keep a pair of tennis shoes in their book bag so they always have them for P.E. days in case they forget.
Snack- We will have a snack time each day. Please pack a nutritious (not sugary or junk food like cookies, chips or pop tarts) snack for your child to help sustain them until lunch. Water only will be allowed in a resealable bottle. Extra snacks are appreciated for students who forget.
Birthday treats- If your child is celebrating his/her birthday and would like to send in a treat for the class, please send only individual treats (such as cupcakes, rice crispy treats, or brownies already cut up). I ask that you drop off the treats at the office by 7:50 am. The treat will be given out during our snack time. It may not be given out at lunch. Please no cakes, ice-cream, party favors or drinks. Also, please give me 2-3 days notice that you will be sending in birthday treats so that I can plan accordingly. Please make sure to include enough for everyone in the class. Your child will not be allowed to deliver treats to friends in other classrooms.
Transportation- Remember to send written verification of changes in your child’s transportation to me. I cannot accept transportation changes via e-mail. Your child should have a main way they usually go home. Unless I receive a note signed by a parent stating that I should send your child home a different way, they will be sent home via their primary mode of transportation. If you have an emergency and need to change your child’s mode of transportation for the day, you will need to fax a signed notice to the office. Please call the office after you send the fax to verify they received it. The school phone number is 678-594-8720. The school fax number is 678-594-8727. Students may not ride home on a different bus with a friend. They may only ride their assigned bus.
Absences-. It is very important for your child’s academic success that he or she is at school on time every day. Of course, everyone gets sick from time to time and we want your child to stay home if they are truly sick and could get others sick. Therefore, all absences require written notes sent with your child or a fax complete with child’s name, date of absence, reason for absence and a parent signature. I cannot accept excuse notes via e-mail even if you e-mailed me in advance or the day that your child would not be at school. Excuse notes should be sent within 3 days of the absence. They will not be accepted after 3 days and will be considered unexcused.
Weekly Folders- Weekly folders will be sent home on Thursdays. Please return all necessary paperwork as soon as possible. In your child’s weekly folder will be a sheet where I will note any behavior or academic problems such as work that was not turned in. Please sign the sheet each Thursday and return the sheet in the folder on Friday.
Other- Please do not walk your child to class in the morning. I am busy greeting children as they come in the door and I am not able to talk to parents. It is the time that I greet each child and set the mood for the day. If you need to talk to me I will be more than happy to schedule a conference with you.
Car riders- Parents may not park in the school parking lot until 7:20. Car riders may only arrive through the car rider line. If you need to come into the building you must first drop off your child in the car rider line and then park to come into the building if it is prior to 7:50.
Visiting- While we love to have parents in the building and your children love to eat lunch with you, please do not plan to visit the first 2 weeks of school. This gives me time to establish our routine and the children time to get back into the swing of things. Anytime you do visit don’t forget to sign-in in the office and get a name badge. If you are eating lunch with your child please wait for us either in the front lobby or by the cafeteria. Do not come to the classroom. Your child may take ONE friend on the stage with them. Please eat on the stage with your child as there is not enough room at the tables for parents too.
How to contact me- The best way to reach me is through e-mail. You may also send a note with your child. I am not able to come to the phone while I have students in my class.
