Welcome to high school English!!!!!

Hi, I am Ms. Dana Ray. I am half of the high school English department at Holden High School (Valarie Dufrene is the other half, and she is amazing!). I am very excited about this school year. English I and English II will begin following the SpringBoard Curriculum this year. This is a rigorous curriculum that uses varied activities to enable students to use higher-order thinking in their studies. Each unit has mulitple assessments in the form of projects, written assignments and exams.  English IV focuses on reading strategies and on response to the literary periods and literature in British history. Students will read, comprehend, analyze and interpret varied genres of literature. They also review grammar, writing and literary analysis skills. Last, the students review standardized testing strategies in preparation for the End of Course test, the ACT and the SAT.
