Reading Journal Due Dates
6th grade: due any day in the week of April 26
7th grade: due any day in the week of May 3
8th grade: due any day in the week of May 10

Reading Focus: Vivid Verbs
Pay attention to the author's verb choices. How do these words contribute to your understanding of the plot and characters? Do they detract from your understanding?

The two letters to friends can be about any topic related to the book and the way the author writes, but may not be entirely plot summary.

At this collection, each student must have completed 3 letters
(one to me, two to friends in the class). He or she is also required to get a written response from the two classmates before turning in the journal.
