feel free to contact Mrs. Pepe anytime.

A Note to all woodwind players...saxophones, clarinets ..you must provide your own reeds.  Vroom community school is not a supplyer of reeds for your instrument.  This is being a well prepared student.  If the reed is old or chipped it needs to be replaced.  Pieros' music on 45th st. carries them or Elefante Music. ( rep comes on Thursdays).  Or order online at elefantemusic.com and it will be delivered on Thursdays.    Ask Mrs. pepe for your size if you plan to get them on your own.

PARENTS SECTION

Woodwind Instruments:  Anyone playing the saxophone or clarinet should be providing their own reeds.  If your child has chosen this type of instrument with your approval please be mindful to the fact that reeds don't last forever.  Every child goes through reeds differently.  You cannot play with a chipped reed.  Any reed that is not up to playing standards will be discarded by Mrs. Pepe.   Please inquire with Mrs. Pepe about the prices of boxes of reeds.

Brass Instruments-  All students playing a brass instrument are required to have valve oil / or slide oil in their cases at all times.   Brass instruments operate with a valve system (Trumpet or Baritone Horn) or slide system (Trombone).  The oil keeps this instruments working properly.  If they are not kept in working order the child will struggle with the instrument.

String Instruments-   all violins and violas should have rosin in their cases.  This is used on the bow.  It enables the bow to grip the strings thus producing sound.

Percussionists-   All drummers should be prepared with sticks and their music and bells if you are a bell player.  As a drummer, this is a selective group.  All drummers begin as bell players.  Parts are assigned accordingly by audition.  Every student does not play every piece in every group.

All students should be attending lessons once per week.  Please follow the band schedule that was given to you, and remember to bring in your instrument and music on the day of your lesson.   Upon the end of your lesson...all instruments should be going home to practice.  They should not be left in the classroom.  Parents it is up to you to make your child bring their instrument home.

If there are days off...I try to schedule the best I can as far as makeups. ( attending another class with another group)  There are many instrumental students in the program this year.  Please be mindful that I teach vocal music certain times and cannot teach band class at the same time.

Parents you are a vital part of the instrumental
program.  I depend on you to get your child to practice at home.  I also depend on you to make sure your child comes to practices that they need to attend and to their lessons.   And I also depend on you to send your child to school with their instrument on the day they need it.  (have your child play their instrument for you)  I know in the beginning it may not sound like much...but they need your support.  They need to hear "Good Job!! that sounds great"  or " I can't wait to hear more."
